Good morning WAYS members. I am writing on behalf of the WAYS-AFRU interim executive committee. We are planning to launch WAYS-AFRU in September this year, and I require a few bodies to help with the launch. For logistics reasons I would appreciate it if those members in Gauteng would indicate if they are interested in being part of the planning committee. We are also wanting to have our first newsletter published by the launch date in September, and would appreciate contributions for it. This is for all the members (Africa). Dr Henry Roman Secretary-General (interim) WAYS-AFRU

Dear Dr Rabie, Your assistance will be much appreciated, unfortunately you are in the Arab states region. The demarcation of regions is according to that prescribed by the UN. This does not, however, mean that you cannot contribute. One area you can participate in, is the newsletter. This newsletter is to highlight the work of African scientists on the continent, so any contributions will be considered for publication in it. Regards, Henry

The newsletter should contain info on current scientific endeavours in Africa, with particular reference to research directed at meeting the needs of Africa. Be it food security or improving the environment, etc.

Hi Henry, What about posting a description of the newsletter and a permanent announcement for contribution on the AFRU home page? I think "create content" / "book page" will do. Gaell

Hi Henry
Maybe we should as WAYS AFRU approach the Universities and ask for articles/information, maybe 2-3 years old, that can be entered on the newsletter. They may be hesitant with research that is currently conducted but they might be more agreeable with 'older' research they conducted. This could also act as a way of linking University students with each other.
Cheers
