Young water professionals

IWA acknowledges that the water sector is facing unprecedented workforce challenges as the current leaders grow old and retire and an influx of new, younger water professionals flows in. The challenge for the industry is to find ways of retaining and passing on this knowledge. The IWA Young Water Professionals (IWP) Programme is designed to fulfill this purpose.

The IWA YWP Programme provides a range of activities, services and initiatives to young professionals and students in the water and wastewater sector who are under the age of 35. The YWP Programme engages with young water professionals, employers, academic institutions and other professional associations to ensure that the future needs of the sector are understood and addressed. It also forms links between senior and junior water professionals and creates inter-generational dialogue between these two groups.

IWA will hold a series of activities for young water professionals during the IWA World Water Congress in Vienna. These will provide a platform for young water professionals to network with their peers, meet established water industry professionals and obtain a better understanding of the industry.
