This is an idea/vision still in the pipeline. The idea of an Academy of young Scientists in Uganda is being worked on by a group of young/youth scientists who need to bridge the gap between the old group of scientists (read Emminent scientists) and the young ones in Uganda.

In Uganda there exists The Uganda National Academy of sciences (UNAS), however this is a group of old scientists who have achived there reputation over time through the scientitific work done. The Academy's stractures dont have a provision for the involvement of young scientists.

If we are to contribute to the scientific development of our country, we need to stand up and be able to be counted and this can be through poineering to set up the Uganda National Academy of Young Scientists.

We are youth searching for knowledge, what is purpoted to be empirical knowledge in our time is  respected, only if it is carefully sought and honestly presented and adds a degree of social predictability.

I here by call upon all of you WAYS members to contibute ideas that can lead to the successful set up of the Academy, especially from experiences in your home countries how you established Academies of Young scientists.

The ideas may include:-

• Activities carried out in your academies to foster young scientists' developement in science careers.


• suggestions to constitution of the academy.

I will be glad for all your brialliant ideas that will help in the establishment of The Uganda National Academy of Young Scientists.
