Postgraduate Training Fellowships for Women Scientists from Sub-Saharan Africa and Least Developed Countries (LDC) at Centres of Excellence in the South. The Fellowship is offered to women scientists to pursue postgraduate research in a field of the natural sciences. Deadline for applications: 31 July of each year.
Purpose
The Third World Organization for Women in Science (TWOWS) with funds generously provided by the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (Sida), has instituted a fellowship programme for female students from Sub-Saharan Africa and Least Developed Countries (LDCs), who wish to pursue postgraduate training leading to a Ph.D., at centres of excellence in the South (developing countries), outside their own country.
At the generous invitation of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) the Third World Organization for Women in Science (TWOWS) is pleased to announce that the TWOWS Fourth General Assembly and International Conference will take place at the Beijing International Convention Center (BICC), Beijing, China, 27-30 June 2010.
The International Conference on "Women Scientists in a Changing World" is expected to cover a critical range of socially relevant scientific topics of interest to the overall objectives of TWOWS.
The aims of the Conference are to:
• Explore and identify new dimensions for women's research in science and technology, education and training;
• Identify ways of promoting the involvement of women in harnessing science and technology for sustainable development;
• Explore opportunities and develop strategies for the participation of women in the development and utilization of new technologies;
The Mexican Federation (FEMU) is pleased that the 30th Triennial IFUW Conference will be celebrated in our country in 2010. This is a very significant year for us, during which we will commemorate our 200th year of independence, as well as the 100 year anniversary of Mexico's social revolution, the first of the 20th century. Two hundred years ago we fought for the liberty of a nation and one hundred years ago for its social rights. Mexico was the first country to include social rights in its constitution, the Constitution of 1917, which is in effect today.
Each year, the European Science Foundation (ESF) announces a series of calls for proposals which will give the opportunity to propose collaborative research projects and networking activities with a European dimension. The time frame of these funding opportunities is annually published in the ESF Common Call leaflet, available to download on the ESF website and widely distributed among ESF Member Organisations and European research community.
The calls span all fields of science through four main funding instruments, covering all types of scientific activities, from basic research and frontier science to networking and dissemination. Information about submitting proposals can be found below or by downloading the Common Call 2010 leaflet to your right:

This two day conference, with more than 50 presenters from over 12 countries as well as reading events planned for the days surrounding the conference, aims to address the problematic of translation as it is applied specifically to the study, teaching, research and dissemination of intellectual information within the various disciplines of the Humanities. The goal is to re-examine political, cultural and social constructions in the context of, and as they are related to, translation and translation theory within the Social Sciences. Within the context of such interrogation, papers being presented will examine literary, theoretical, philosophical or other works as well as ideas regarding cultural conversion of texts or how the practice of translation might dislodge binary constructs of cultural and national identities which assume essence, fixity, and hierarchy.
