Dear Friends from WAYS!

I am glad to invite you this summer to Poland to participate in the 6th Zabinki International Student Camp (August 22-30\, 2008).

ISC Zabinki is an extraordinary international event which has been organized every August since 2002 in Zabinki\, Poland. Zabinki is a small village situated in the middle of Mazuria - one of the most beautiful regions in Poland.

The camp is designed for young people (aged 18-30) from all over Europe. Our participants are university students\, graduates\, youth workers\, NGO members and young professionals. The program includes different kinds of activities and fosters non-formal education\, integration and intercultural learning.

The camp's main goal is multicultural integration and creating an international community of young people - giving them an opportunity to make friends\, learn new skills and gain better understanding of cultural diversity.

This year\, Zabinki Camp became the European Charlemagne Youth Prize Competition National Winner awarded by the European Parliament for the best project aiming at integration of young people and promotion of European and international understanding.

Caros amigos

Mais uma vez a Sociedade Brasileira de Genética tem a satisfação de anunciar o seu encontro anual. Desta vez o local escolhido foi Salvador (BA)\, primeira capital do Brasil – sede do Vice-Reino de Portugal (1549-1763). Em setembro estaremos dizendo “foi aqui que tudo começou”. É com essa sensação agradável de reviver o passado e testemunhar nosso desenvolvimento como Nação que vamos focar nossas lentes acadêmicas na integração de dois campos separados há quase um século em razão da natureza historicamente fracionada das ciências da vida – a evolução e o desenvolvimento. Este Campo “novo” chamado resumidamente de evo-devo será dissecado por especialistas brasileiros e de várias outras partes do mundo. Paralelamente estaremos tratando também de outros temas\, dos mais básicos até os mais aplicados\, que são objetos das atividades dos pesquisadores brasileiros.

A programação preliminar destacando alguns convidados nacionais e estrangeiros já confirmados antecipa o sucesso do 54o Congresso Brasileiro de Genética. The African Biotechnology Stakeholders Forum (ABSF) through its sister network\, the Agricultural Biotechnology Network in Africa (ABNETA) and the African Union’s (AU) Division of Agriculture and Food Security are pleased to announce the 1st ever All Africa Congress on Biotechnology that will be held in the Kenyan Capital Nairobi\, during the third quarter of 2008 i.e. 22nd – 26th September 2008

The theme of the Congress will be ‘Harnessing the Potential of Agricultural Biotechnology for Food Security and Socio-Economic Development in Africa’. In addition to the main theme\, congress participants will have an opportunity to listen to experiences of other countries in Europe\, Asia\, USA and Latin America about modern agricultural biotechnology and its applications in their economic transformation processes.

Offers of papers for presentation to any of the topics covered by the Congress are sought. You may offer your presentation as a verbal platform paper\, as a free - standing display poster board\, or both. Exhibitions from major biotechnology and agricultural companies and other interested entities will also be displayed at the Congress.
