You've probably noticed that we have a growing number of WAYS Networks. These are essentially daughter sites, hosted on, with fully-functioning community networking, social web, interactivity, productivity and communication tools.

Hosting your project on has a number of benefits:

  • Access to the vast array of resources on the main WAYS platform;
  • A cutting-edge web platform featuring state-of-the-art tools that present you and your initiative to the world in an attractive, professional way;
  • Rich communication, discussion and content sections allowing your members to stay up-to-date on your project and coordinate events, share resources and work in tandem;
  • Membership on the WAYS Networking board, where your vote counts and can help shape the future of the world's largest grassroots young scientist network.

As the World Association of Young Scientists, membership is open to everyone irrespective of country, nationality, ethnicity, religion, belief system, dietary restrictions, and taste in music. If you have an interest in Science, a desire to share your scientific knowledge, and a drive to meet other like-minded Scientists, you are welcome here.

WAYS generally accepts members between the ages of 0 and 140. If you are outside of this age range, please contact us and we'll see what we can do.

While our largest demographic comprises members primarily under the age of 35, we understand that being a 'young scientist' may mean different things, depending upon where one is in terms of her / his career.

We're very interesting in building relationships between senior scientists and younger ones by encouraging senior scientists to join WAYS as well. Additionally, we welcome younger prospective scientists-to-be to join the network, follow the forums, and learn about science from real scientists.

Periodically through the year, we have newsletters sent out to all our members. If you are a registered user on, you should receive these automatically. On the front page of the website, we also occasionally feature important news and announcements.

Most - if not all - of the events and jobs posted on the website have an email or a website URL associated with them. You'll want to contact the organizations associated with these posts, as WAYS is generally not affiliated with them and simply provides a mechanism for them to advertise their events and jobs.

However, if there is no email address or URL listed, you may want to contact the poster directly, by clicking on their name or photo in the post and then click that "contact" tab on their user page.

Not that you need to be logged into your account to contact other WAYS members.

While we are supportive of young scientists' efforts in obtaining speaking opportunities, securing attendance to conferences and promoting their work, we are not in the position to provide comprehensive funding/travel support.

Despite this, we recommend that you contact the conference organizers to determine if there are travel awards for individuals who convey promise in their field. Sometimes these are posted online at the conference website. You may also wish to look at companies/organizations that may be supporting the conference.

Sometimes, they will sponsor 'travel awards' and these awards can be used of offset the cost of attending. In fact, you may want to take a look at the exhibitors. We regret that we are unable to support young researchers and promising scientists, but do our best to try and guide them toward potential sponsorship opportunities.

If you need help looking for funding, a great place to ask would be in our Forums. Odds are you'll find several other people who've already been in your situation and who will be able to point you in the right direction.

You can post it yourself. Simply create an account on the website and you'll have everything you need to contribute your content.
