The Four Major Goals of Life revisited

I wrote about the four major goals in life on my psychology today blog quite some time back and want to revisit it today in the light of reading Susan Wolf‘s ‘Meaning in life and why it matters’ which is a very accessible and engaging, as well as a short, read.
Susan Wolf claims that there are two [...]

Manic Depressive Leaders in a Time of Crisis

S. Nassir Ghaemi, in his book, A First Rate Madness: Uncovering the links between  Leadership and Mental Illness, makes a case for the fact that while ‘normal’ leaders are good in times of stability and peace; in times of crisis, mentally ill or mentally abnormal people make for better [...]

Finite nature of human control and the Existential Givens

In one of the earlier posts we looked at the four existential givens and linked them to the ABCD model. I also related them to personality and emotions here.  To recap, the four existential givens,  are:

Life (vs death): We all live, yet we also all know that one day we will die.
Freedom (vs [...]

Between the Stimulus and the Response: the four functions of the Mind

“Between stimulus and response there is a space. In that space is our power to choose our response. In our response lies our growth and our freedom.” Victor E Frankl
In today’s post I will be drawing heavily from the spiritual traditions of India (Yoga etc), and interested readers are redirected to [...]

Emotions and Personality : take 7

Today I want to approach the question of emotions and personality from an existential lens. In my last post I alluded to the existential givens and you can read more about them here [pdf].
To recap, here are the contradictions or tensions that these existential givens give rise to:

Daily maintenance at pump station

Initial check points

• Engine & pump lub oil level

• Engine lub oil pressure..

• Cylinder temperature at panel

• Pump lub oil pressure.

• Station inlet and discharge pressure.

• Checking crude oil levels in D6 tanks.

• Recording thruput rate totalizer rpm. At 7am

• Checking tubing and pipes if any leakage is there.

• Checking station valves.

Regular maintenance job at PS-3:

• Checking cylinder heads injectors and fuel pumps for any leakage.

• Cleaning oil from the engine head cleaning leak of pipe connection and drain tank on engine room.

• Checking and attending fuel transfer pumps cooing water pump air compressor emergency generator booster pumps.

• Cleaning of plunger pumps and booster pumps due to crude oil leakage.

• Collecting of crude oil from all the drain pitch pump house area and booster area to pump it back in the M/L.

Pigging process of pumping station of crude oil

PIGGING

Pigging in the context of pipelines refers to the practice of using devices known as "pigs" to perform various maintenance operations on a pipeline. This is done without stopping the flow of the product in the pipeline. These operations include but are not limited to cleaning and inspecting the pipeline. This is accomplished by inserting the pig into a 'pig launcher' (or 'launching station') - an oversized section in the pipeline, reducing to the normal diameter.

Applications of pigging

Pigging has been used for many years to clean large diameter pipelines in the oil industry. Today, however, the use of smaller diameter pigging systems is now increasing in many continuous and batch process plants as plant operators search for increased efficiencies and reduced costs.

DIfferent types of pumps in pumping station of crude oil

TYPES OF PUMPS :

There are a number of different types of pumps that can be found in the pumping stations, including a full head pump, which is a two-stage pump with the impellers in a series, consisting of one inlet and one outlet. Also, there are half stage pumps with the impellers in parallel and including two inlets and two outlets. Half stage pumps are capable of handling twice the flow of full head pumps, but only produce half the pressure rise. Pumping stations may also house booster pumps, which move product from the storage tanks at the station into the main line.
