 <description>&lt;p&gt;Ecuador is to vote on a new constitution next week which contains regulations on the transfer of so far human-only rights to abiotic entities like rivers and other ecosystems (including, by the way, the islands of Galapagos), in a timely attempt to engrave sustainable development, the conservation of biodiversity and related environmental policy goals into national law.&lt;br /&gt;

 <title>Un portail francophone du développement durable</title>

 <description>&lt;p&gt;Médiaterre est un système d’information et un réseau international d’acteurs qui se sont donnés pour objectif de stimuler la production et la diffusion, sur Internet, d’informations en français sur l’actualité du développement durable.&lt;br /&gt;
Il s’agit d’un système collaboratif de partage et de valorisation des connaissances structuré en 23 sites Internet.&lt;br /&gt;
Reconnu comme une initiative multi-partenariale par les Nations Unies (initiative de type 2),&lt;br /&gt;
Médiaterre contribue à la mise en œuvre des plans d’action du Sommet Mondial pour le Déve-&lt;br /&gt;
loppement Durable (Johannesburg, 2002) et du Sommet Mondial sur la Société de l’Information&lt;br /&gt;
(Genève 2003 et Tunis 2005). Il est piloté par l’Institut de l’Energie et de l’Environnement de la&lt;br /&gt;
Francophonie (IEPF), organe subsidiaire de l’Organisation internationale de la Francophonie (OIF).&lt;br /&gt;
Son Comité d’Orientation International est composé d’experts et d’acteurs reconnus du dévelop-&lt;br /&gt;
pement durable. Le Centre International de Ressources et d’Innovation pour le Développement&lt;br /&gt;
Durable (CIRIDD) assure la mise en œuvre des recommandations techniques du comité d’orienta-&lt;br /&gt;
tion, effectue les développements graphiques et informatiques, préside le comité technique de&lt;br /&gt;
