Les intellectuels et artistes pour le plurilinguisme et la diversité culturelle

Des intellectuels et artistes s'exprimeront sur la question des langues, du plurilinguisme et de la diversité linguistique et culturelle, dans le contexte de la mondialisation. "Le premier instrument du génie d'un peuple, c'est sa langue", disait Stendhal. M. Matsuura, Directeur général de l'Unesco note à propos de la Journée internationale pour la langue maternelle, le 21 février de chaque année, que, « loin de constituer un espace réservé à l’analyse des spécialistes, les langues sont au cœur de toute vie sociale, économique et culturelle. », « c’est ce que signifie, rappelle-t-il, le slogan lancé par l’UNESCO pour l’Année internationale des langues : « Les langues, ça compte ! »».
Chacun pose sur le monde un regard unique, qui possède par sa singularité même une part d'universalité. Il en est de même des langues et des cultures, "le défi que nous avons à relever [étant] en réalité celui du caractère irremplaçable des langues de culture, car chacune opère une ouverture spécifique sur l’universel humain." (L'Avenir des Langues, P. Judet de La Combe et H. Wismann).
La rencontre comprend 3 parties :

1ère partie - Table ronde "Le plurilinguisme et la diversité linguistique et culturelle, enjeu de civilisation", dont les participants seront :
- Anne-Marie GARAT, écrivaine, prix Fémina
- Marius SALA, vice président de l'Académie roumaine
- Diego MARANI, écrivain, membre de la Commission européenne
- COSTA-GAVRAS, réalisateur, scénariste
- Georges BANU, metteur en scène et critique théâtral
- Jacques SPELKENS, linguiste, groupe Suez
- Heinz WISMANN , philosophe
La table-ronde sera animée par Michele CANONICA, journaliste, président de la Società Dante Alighieri-Comité de Paris et animateur de l'émission "L'Italie en direct-L’Italia in diretta", diffusée par la radio Aligre FM.

2ème partie - Représentation "Variations sur le plurilinguisme et la diversité culturelle" avec lectures de poètes et écrivains (Alfons KNAUTH, Vénus KHOURY-GHATA, Martha IZSAK, Christian TAMAS, Wafa BERRY, Rodica DRAGHINCESCU, Gaëtan BRULOTTE, Nadine LTAIF, Linda Maria BAROS, Bernadette ENGEL-ROUX et spectacle musical (Susanna Bartilla Quartet, Marén Berg)

3ème partie - Exposition le "Dialogue des arts" (Amelia CALUJNAI - LAZAR, Ibrahim JALAL, Martirosyan GAGUIK, Arrarat PETROSSIAN, Majid AGHILI, Mahmud CAWIAN, Danielle RIVIER, James BENENSON, Marc BENSIMON)

Cette manifestation s'accompagne de la rédaction d'un Livre d'Or qui s'écrit en ligne à cette adresse. Intellectuels, écrivains, poètes, philosophes, scientifiques, acteurs, cinéastes, auteurs, compositeurs, interprètes, peintres, sculpteurs, dessinateurs, artistes du monde entier sont invités à faire entendre leurs voix à leur manière sur la diversité linguistique et culturelle dans ce Livre d'Or.

Abstract

The South Asia sub-region is now in the forefront of the Open Access movement within developing countries in the world, with India being the most prominent partner in terms of its successful Open Access and Digital Library initiatives. Institutional and policy frameworks in India also facilitate innovative solutions for increasing international visibility and accessibility of scholarly literature and documentary heritage in this country. This publication has its genesis in the recommendations and proceedings of UNESCO-supported international conferences and workshops including the 4th International Conference of Asian Digital Libraries (ICADL2001, Bangalore); the International Conferences on Digital Libraries (ICDL2004 & ICDL2006, New Delhi); and the International Workshop on Greenstone Digital Library Software (2006, Kozhikode), where many information professionals of this sub-region demonstrated their Digital Library and Open Access initiatives. This book describes successful digital library and open access initiatives in the South Asia sub-region that are available in the forms of open courseware, open access journals, metadata harvesting services, national-level open access repositories and institutional repositories. This book may be considered an authoritative Source-book on Open Access development in this sub-region.

Event Description:

Due to growing demand, Perimeter Instituteâ€™s popular summer science camp continues to include two sessions. Each session provides a two-week long immersion into the mind-bending world of cutting-edge ideas at Perimeter Institute for Theoretical Physics in Waterloo, Ontario. A total of 100 high school students are now able to attend â€“ 50 from across Canada and 50 international students. Participants get to:

* Interact with world-class scientists at PI who advance our understanding of the entire physical universe
* Tour a range of world-class scientific labs
* Enjoy cultural events and make new friends who share the same passion for physics.

By the programâ€™s end, participants will have a gained a much richer, deeper understanding about the physical universe at the most fundamental level and an appreciation of what mysteries remain unsolved. This program is open to Grade 11 students from across Canada (secondaire V in QuÃ©bec) and International students 16-17 years of age. Applicants should have a keen interest and strong aptitude in both physics and mathematics.
