Applications for the second round of the 2010 Endeavour Awards program are now open. The 2010 second round is for International and Australian applicants applying for an Endeavour Executive Award and Australian applicants applying for an Endeavour Research Fellowship or an Endeavour Research Fellowships for Indigenous Australians.

Fellows are selected from countries and territories in Asia, Africa, the Middle East, Latin America, and Russia and include Brazil, Chile, China, Egypt, Ghana, Guatemala, India, Indonesia, Kenya, Mexico, Mozambique, Nigeria, Palestinian Territories, Peru, Philippines, Russia, Senegal, South Africa, Tanzania, Thailand, Uganda, Vietnam, where the Ford Foundation maintains active overseas programs.
The Application Process
All applications must be submitted to the appropriate IFP International Partner in the country or region where the applicant resides. IFP International Partners determine application deadlines and selection schedules in their region or country. Applications are reviewed and final selections decided by panels composed of practitioners and scholars from various fields of work and study. The level and duration of awards are determined as part of the selection process.

In order to apply to the TWAS Fellowships programmes each applicant should follow few key steps that are indicated below:
1. WHICH PROGRAMME SHOULD I CHOOSE?: Read carefully the 'General' and 'Additional information' sections in the application forms and choose the most suitable fellowship programme for your research needs.
2. CHECK ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA: After choosing a fellowship programme, you should verify that you are eligible and meet ALL the eligibility criteria specified in the application form for your chosen programme.
3. CHOOSE AN ELIGIBLE HOST INSTITUTE: Select a suitable host institution under the fellowship you have chosen. In the application forms, under "additional information", you will find the website addresses leading to the lists of eligible host institutes for each programme.
4. GET PRELIMINARY ACCEPTANCE: applying is subject to acceptance at a host institute. After choosing an eligible host institute, you must seek to obtain acceptance and a preliminary Acceptance Letter (see sample in the application forms). To request a preliminary Acceptance Letter you must contact the chosen host institution via e-mail, fax AND by sending a letter with your CV, research proposal and the sample copy of the Acceptance letter provided in the application form.
Obtaining preliminary acceptance at an eligible host institute is the responsibility of the applicant. Applications cannot be processed if an Acceptance letter is not received.
5. SUBMIT THE APPLICATION: Once the preliminary Acceptance Letter has been received, you should submit to the TWAS Fellowships office (fellowships@twas.org) and to the other partner agency in some cases, the completed Application form in MS Word format (NOT PDF, jpeg or embedded as a jpeg in a Word document), together with ALL the required enclosures, in ONE zipped file.
An official acknowledgment will be sent confirming the status of your application once it has been processed and not upon receipt.
If awarded, the fellowship must be taken up in the following year of the application.

The Third World Organisation for Women in Science (TWOWS) is an independent, non-profit making, non-governmental body based at the offices of the Third World Academy of Sciences (TWAS), Trieste, Italy.
The objectives of TWOWS are:
• to promote the role of women in the development of science and technology in third world countries
• to increase participation of women in scientific activities in the third world
• to enhance scientific productivity and efficiency of women scientists in the South
TWOWS is offering postgraduate training fellowships for women science graduates (below 40 years of age) from countries in sub-Saharan Africa and least developed countries.
The minimum qualification of applicants is a M.Sc. degree (or equivalent), or an outstanding B.Sc. honours degree, in the following field of the natural sciences: agriculture, biology, chemistry, engineering & technology sciences, earth & environmental resources, mathematics, medicine, physics, and multidisciplinary sciences.
The host institute where the applicant wishes to pursue her doctorate degree must be in a developing country other than her own. The applicant must be willing to return to her own country after completion of the fellowship.

TWAS Fellowships in Pakistan
Fri, 03/11/2006 - 6:19pm | by akhyarTWAS (the Academy of Sciences for the Developing World, Italy) has recently signed new collaboration fellowship agreements with two institutions in Pakistan.
These new programmes will offer over 30 new fellowships to meritorious scientists from the developing world and are due to start in 2007.
The institutions in Pakistan are
• The International Centre for Chemical Sciences (ICCS), Karachi, Pakistan will offer postgraduate and postdoctoral fellowships in the fields of Organic Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biotechnology, Molecular Medicine, Pharmacology and Physical Sciences which will be tenable at the H.E.J. Research Institute of Chemistry and the Dr. Panjwani Center for Molecular Medicine & Drug Research.
