Eric Duchemin (PhD in Environmental Sciences) is Adjunct professor at the Environmental Sciences Institute of the University of Québec at Montréal where he conducts several field researches on issue as Land use and Land use change, urban agriculture, and urban management. He is also research director of DREXenvironnement, an independent environmental research and consulting group. Dr Duchemin wrote numerous reports and scientific papers, as well as provided expert testimony on environmental impacts of energy production. Between 2001 and 2006, he was involved as a leading-author in the Land-use and Land-Use Change section of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change Good Practice Guidance for National GHG Inventories, especially flooded lands and Settlement. For is contribution, we was co-recipient of the Nobel Peace Prize 2007 awarded to the IPCC.
As research director of DREXenvironnement he had conducted several field researches in United States of America, Brazil (Amazonia) and Canada (Northern Quebec).
Dr Duchemin is founder, managing editor and editor-in-chief of the electronic publication on environmental sciences VertigO - La revue électronique en sciences de l’environnement (hhtp://vertigo.revues.org), a pioneer in e-scientific publication. The mandate of this publication is to edit, publish and communicate results on research and perspectives in environmental sciences. As an open access publication, VertigO, by given access to peer review papers and educational materials, play also a major role in education, especially for developing francophone countries. This publication is edited by the Editions en environnement VertigO (http://www.editionsvertigo.org). He is director of the electronic publication FrancVert (http://www.francvert.org). Finally, since 2007, he is also editor at Field Action Sciences Reports (http://www.field-actions-science-reports.net) and Surveys and Perspectives Integrating Environment and Society (http://www.surveys-and-perspectives-integrating-environment-and-society....).
Dr. Duchemin is vice-president of the board of director of Nature Quebec / UQCN, one of the largest environmental NGO in Québec (Canada).
